Some of our Walking Week regulars say they really come back time and again for the food – Liz makes some really special dishes and she has no trouble accommodating individual tastes – one of the advantages of our “Small Groups Only” rule.
On your free day, if your holiday includes one ) SellaWalks Weeks, Serra D´Aitana Trek) we can book you in to one of Sella´s 5 bar/restaurants for lunch and/or dinner – or, if you arrange transport down to the coast, we can advise on a couple of good local places to eat. These meals are not included in the price.
Dinners in Casaroc are three courses, local and organic produce where possible, all the wine you want and coffee to follow.
Recently Liz has provided breakfast and dinner for several large groups – up to 14 at a time, and she´s dealt with food allergies, Kosher requirements and vegetarians. Liz likes to use local ingredients and dishes wherever possible and she has some of her recipes in the local Sella cook-book. In season, we use oranges and lemons from the Sella valley and locally produced almonds.
A couple of recent meals:
Green leaf salad with boquerones, grilled prawns
Chicken quarters roasted with preserved lemon, cumin marinade, potatoes roast a la Mary Berry with chilli and freshly picked thyme,
Home-made Pot au Chocolate with raspberries, kiwis, peaches. Chocolate from the Gaspar Perez factory in Villajoiosa
Requevin red, Utiel-Requena ( from Valencia) and / or Estola La Mancha white
We make the preserved lemons here with Sella fruit and, as you can see, Liz uses as much local produce as possible.
Mussels in vinaigrette, local cold meats, local tomato salad with fresh basil and virgin olive oil from our friends in Relleu
Arroz Caldoso – a local speciality like paella but not cooked to dryness. Includes Rape (Monkfish), prawns, fresh green beans and peppers, rich fish stock
Eton mess – meringues, whipped cream, mangoes
Requevin Utiel- Requena red. This is from the wine growing region in inland Valencia around the twin villages of Utiel and Requena and we serve as much of their excellent red wines as possible.
